The recent eruption of Mt. Ontake (御嶽山) occurred on Sept. 27th 2014 caused more than 50 casualties. This tragic event might have triggered geochemical changes in the surrounding region. Between Nov. 12th and Nov. 15th 2014 we collected gas samples at locations that have been investigated 30 years ago by Sano et al. (1984).
A second sampling was organized between Mar. 16th and Mar. 18th 2015 (i.e., for the first time during the cold season). Prof. Pinti joined the fieldwork. Unfortunately, the heavy snowfall in the region of Mt. Ontake did not allow the access to some locations.
