Paper on the past lake-level changes in Lake Van (Turkey)

The manuscript representing the joint effort of the Swiss ICDP PaleoVan science crew has been published in Scientific Reports:

Tomonaga, Y., Brennwald, M. S., Livingstone, D. M., Kwiecien, O., Randlett, M.-È., Stockhecke, M., Unwin, K., Anselmetti, F. S., Beer, J., Haug, G. H., Schubert, C. J., Sturm, M., & Kipfer, R. (2017). Porewater salinity reveals past lake-level changes in Lake Van, the Earth’s largest soda lake. Sci. Rep., 7, 313, doi:10.1038/s41598-017-00371-w.

In this manuscript we show that porewater salinity can be used to reconstruct major changes in the water volume of Lake Van (eastern Anatolia, Turkey) over a time span of 250’000 years.
